Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a record to my collection? +
Tap the + button on the Collection tab. You can enter details manually, or use the search tool to automatically fetch album metadata, cover art, and tracklists from MusicBrainz and iTunes.
Is my collection data backed up? +
Your collection is stored locally on your iPhone. It will be included in your iCloud device backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled in iPhone Settings → [your name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup. Heavy Platter does not run its own backup service. You can also export to CSV from the app as a manual backup.
What happens if I delete the app? +
Deleting Heavy Platter removes all locally stored data. If you have an iCloud device backup or a CSV export saved, you can restore your collection by reinstalling the app and re-importing the CSV file.
How does CSV export work? +
Go to Settings → Export. Heavy Platter generates a CSV file containing all your records and wishlist items. You can save it to Files, share via AirDrop, or email it to yourself. The same file can be re-imported into Heavy Platter later.
Does Heavy Platter need an internet connection? +
No. Your existing collection is always accessible offline. An internet connection is only needed when fetching album metadata, cover art, tracklists, or pricing from external services.
Is there a subscription? What is the tip jar? +
There is no subscription and no locked features. The tip jar (Settings → Support) is a fully voluntary one-time in-app purchase to support ongoing development. You are never required to tip to use any part of the app.
How do I connect Discogs? +
Go to Settings → Connect. From there you can optionally link your Discogs account for pricing and marketplace data. This is entirely optional — Heavy Platter works fully without it.
I found a bug — how do I report it? +
Please email the support address below with a short description of what happened, your iPhone model, and your iOS version. All reports are read and very much appreciated.
